Subtitles Folder Missing

Post by Guddu »

I created a DCP VF for an OV such so that the VF could have the subtitled version of the feature.

For one particular feature, this process was carried out on a Linux server with DCP-o-matic Version 2.16.91.

The resulting VF has the following 5 files only

Code: Select all

-rw-rw-r-- 1 guddu guddu 871605 Oct 20 18:22 sub_90885ac1-fd0e-419c-9276-338d8f924995.mxf
-rw-rw-r-- 1 guddu guddu 16588 Oct 20 18:22 cpl_9fe3b6b5-079e-4e4a-955b-7ca557347deb.xml
-rw-rw-r-- 1 guddu guddu 8440 Oct 20 18:22 pkl_eb4c436f-9cf9-4c26-879c-d71140bb1bd8.xml
-rw-rw-r-- 1 guddu guddu 1483 Oct 20 18:22 ASSETMAP.xml
-rw-rw-r-- 1 guddu guddu 141 Oct 20 18:22 VOLINDEX.xml
However, on another windows server which has DCP-o-matic Version 2.16.89, I get the following files inside the generated VF folder of which two contain the font and the subtitles files.

Code: Select all

-rw-r--r-- 1 guddu None 4974998 Nov 3 20:33 pcm_4d8ac3c2-0549-4a57-8ba2-86319b012448.mxf

-rw-r--r-- 1 guddu None 144 Nov 3 20:33 VOLINDEX
My question is, what causes this difference in the behavior and in the first case, where do the subtitles and the font file reside?

The first DCP is SMPTE, the second Interop.

With the first, the subtitles and font are combined into sub_90885ac1-fd0e-419c-9276-338d8f924995.mxf

The difference is that one DCP is SMPTE and the other is IOP (Interop).
Nothing to do with DCP-o-matic version or host computer specifics.
Also, it seems that the second VF has one more reel than the OV.

The question here is, under what standard the OV was made?
Is it the same in both cases?
If yes, didn't you get an error or warning that you are trying to make a SMPTE VF for an Interop OV or the other way around?

Go there and have a look on document 2, "SMPTE-DCP compared to Interop-DCP".

Oups, Carl got to it first.
