Hello-
I am currently copying a 40gb short DCP to a USBC drive. It says it's going to take 36 hours to finish. Why is this taking so long? What can I do speed up the process?
I'm on Windows 11.
Thanks

I have. I solved the problem by reverting to the old DOM version.

Re: DCP-0-Matic 2 Writer - Slow
Hello. I wanted to add something to this topic.
I'm writing a feature DCP (about 77GB) using the DOM Disk Writer utility and it really is very slow. It says it's going to take a day to copy over the DCP to the external hard drive. I hadn't planed for that in my workflow.. and I wanted to see if that is normal? I figured it would take a bit longer than a regular copy, since it's doing the verification, and with the ext2 overhead maybe? But this is quite a bit longer. Originally it said it would take about 4 hours to copy over, but it's been going for about 2 hours and now it says it has about 23 hours left.
This is on a PC running Windows 10. I just installed DOM 2.18.22. When I copied the DCP to the drive using the Windows File Explorer, it took about 45 minutes. I'm copying from in internal hard drive on the computer to an external USB drive (connected via USB3). Can you let me know if this is normal or if something might not be right here?
Thanks much,
Peter

Re: DCP-0-Matic 2 Writer - Slow
Quick follow up to my previous message. So luckily it did finish quicker than a full day. The remaining time started to go down and the entire process did end up taking about 6 hours. Still longer than I thought it would have taken, but much better than the 20-30 hours that it was predicting at one point. Does 6 hours sound right.. or should it probably be faster? I think it took less time than that to actually create the 2K DCP.
If you can let me know what times I might expect.. that is helpful for future planning. This DCP was on the smaller side.. I'm guessing a bigger DCP would have likely taken longer?
Thanks much for any help.

First of all - are you sure you need the DCP on an ext2/ext3 formatted drive?

Re: DCP-0-Matic 2 Writer - Slow
Hello. Normally I deliver on a NTFS drive and that usually seems to work fine. In this case we got the specs from the theater (it's a Regal theater in the US) and they said it had to be ext2. Maybe NTFS will work too, but I'm trying to give them what they are asking for, to reduce any chances that they reject it, etc. My other plan was to use my Ubuntu box to do the drive format/copy, but when I saw the Disk Writer application, I thought that could be a great option as well. If it's a little bit slower, that is fine, but just curious what might be normal for writing a feature DCP to an external USB3 drive using that app.
Thanks for the help.
