Disk Writer error "Did You Install...."

Post by RC99 »

Hello All,

Trying to write DCP to a USB 3.0 external drive using DCP-O-Matic Disk Writer. M1 Mac Studio running Ventura 13.0.1. Used DCP-O-M to create and check DSCP, not writing/formnat keps hanging up right after I press 'copy.

I get this message:

I did download the version for Mac OC 10.10 +, ran off both my applications folder as well from the opened .dmg. Same results.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

OKay...reinstalled and seemed to get it to work and start copying, but then it stoops with a failure:

I think I may have fixed it...has to go into System Settings and enable mounting/full drive access for Disk Writer. Will update if successful.

Sorry for necro-bumping this topic, but I can confirm that – apart from installing the .pkg file, as per instructions – one has to enable full drive access in system settings for Disk Writer to work on macOS.

Which leads me to another question: is it really necessary to format a disk every time? Could there be an option that just wipes the disk contents, when it is already ext2-formatted? When copying a short trailer, for instance, it takes about 10/15 minutes to format our external HD, and just a few seconds to copy and verify the contents. Thanks anyway!

It's not necessary, but if you don't format we should probably check that the existing format looks at least vaguely OK, which needs a bit of thinking about.
It's on the list: https://dcpomatic.com/bugs/view.php?id=2112
