DOM Player does not show Subtitles by default?

Post by Guddu »

I created a DCP with English audio and Spanish subtitles.
  • I had the "Use Subtitles" checkbox ticked.
  • I had the "Burn subtitles into image" checkbox unticked (because I want to use this DCP to later generate a VF for the spanish dubbed version).
Now, the DCP got generated but when I try to play it in the DOM player, the subtitles do not show up.

Is this the default behavior of DOM player?

I have checked the folder structure and it has the subtitles xml file and the font and the packing list and the asset map have the mention of the subtitles files.

Kindly guide.

No, the player should show subs by default if they are present. What version of DCP-o-matic are you using?

This is with the version 2.11.34. I will test it out on a later version and report the findings.

The encrypted DCP was generated on a server using 2.11.34. This encrypted DCP plays fine in DOM player on 2.11.34 (just does not show subtitles) but when I play it in DOM player (version 2.16.70) it throws this error in font id allocator.

An exception occurred: Programming error at ../src/lib/font_id_allocator.cc:118

This is also preventing me from using this OV to create a VF (dubbed version of the feature) being discussed in another post viewtopic.php?p=12374#p12374

I hereby confirm that with the latest stable version (2.16.89) the subtitles show up by default.
