I have a SMPTE DCP authored outside of DCP-o-matic. Basically a rewrap from an original DCP, adding a dubbed cpl and subtitles.
Deluxe reported some issues, all relative to compliance with Bv2.1 standard
The DCP plays fine in DOM player and EasyDCP.
In particular, the issues are
- audio is 5.1.. Should be 16 channel WTF format.
- some reels don't have subtitles (logo reels) . All reels should have subtitles, empty subtitle file if necessary.
I have the means to correct this, but I want to ask. Has anyone ever experienced issues in cinema ingest or playback if these two issues are not resolved?
I have authored several smpte dcps in the past without Bv2.1 standard and all were fine (national distribution)
Thanks

The 16ch WTF is a workflow matter, not a SMPTE Bv2.1 error. You can safely use 6ch or any other even number of channels.
I see commercial main stream DCPs using 6 or 8 channels daily.
The 'all reels need subtitles (even if empty) when one reel has subtitles' is a known issue that MAY hit on some systems. As far as I remember discussions, it may cause problems on one server that has or had a significant market share.
I recently came across a mainstream DCP that threw the same error. It played flawlessly on our Sony and Barco servers.

Thanks Carsten for the insights, much appreciated.
I redid the DCP and all's fine now.
