VF subtitles on KDM OV

Hi.

I wonder what would be workflow when i need to do VF subtitle version for KDM OV DCP?

Now when i insert DCP to my empty project it asks for KDM and does not let me make VF from OV DCP as an option.

Any pointers what i'm missing.

You need a KDM - do you have one?

Sure i have one i can make as i have plain DCP that i made to KDM version.

Just not sure whats the correct workflow approach.

It whould work the same as for an unencrypted OV/VF combo - create new project, add encrypted DCP to it. Assign KDM. Check 'Use this DCP's video as OV and make VF' and 'Use this DCP's audio as OV and make VF'. You can only check these if the current VF project settings are the same as for the OV DCP.
DCP-o-matic 2.16b helps a little bit with a function to adjust current DCP properties to a loaded source DCP (right click-> 'Set project DCP settings from this DCP').

Add your subtitles.

That is how it SHOULD work, never did this myself so far.

Clearly i'm missing or doing the assign KDM bit wrong it seems.

If you right-click the encrypted DCP in the content list and choose "Add KDM..." you can give it the KDM, and then you should be able to preview it and carry on as Carsten suggests.

and what if it's needed to send it to distribution?
KDM added to DCP will become inactive after time set in KDM for OV?
Does VF KDM becomes "new OV KDM" if time in VF KDM is set different or longer than in added OV KDM to DCP?

OV KDMs have no relevance for VFs, and vice versa. Every CPL, if encrypted, has it's own KDM, and it is only valid for exactly this CPL.
