I installed the new version of VLC in a Intel i7 4720HQ with 16GB of ram, and I loaded a DCP.
The player don't go at realtime. The video plays very slow.
I prefer NeoDCP Player or Stereoscopic Player.

Re: VLC 2.2.0
I don't think it can play encrypted DCPs either?

Re: VLC 2.2.0
The 2.2.0 changelog mentions support for "encrypted DCP with KDM".

Re: VLC 2.2.0
I looked around in the VLC 2.2.0 GUI for while to find any references to DCPs, also tried opening DCP folders/CPLs, but it seems currently CPLs are only supported through commandline? VLC was able to play J2k MXF files since version 2.0 or so, but it was always slow, using OpenJPEG.
They continue to work on acceleration, and to me it seems 2.2.0 now has improved performance noticeably, but still needs a very fast machine. It's good to see though that they stick to it.

Re: VLC 2.2.0
Should this work on the mac (intel) version as well? My win7-machine is on strike at the moment and I can't get it to play on my mac. Just a black frame.
