Hi,
I have tried to create an encrpyted DCP with text (srt) subtitles. They are shown in preview in DCP-o-matic but DCP-o-matic 2 Player doesn't show them although it writes Subutitles yes.
I have tried to add them in one DCP and also as VF to an existing encrypted DCP. The only solution was to burn them in the video.
Unfortunately I have no possibility to try the DPC on the server.
I do not know if I am making some mistake or it is an error or a feature.
Thanks
Tomáš

Hi Tomáš
Are you making a SMPTE or Interop DCP?

Re: Encrypted DCP and subtitles
Hallo!
I have the same issue...
I’m in Italy and I need to project an encrypted DCP with Italian subs provided by me in it...
How comes?
The film will be surely in 24fps, so I have to set the subtitle accordingly and save it as .srt right?
DCP-o-matic can open open an encrypted DCP then?
There’s a procedure that can help me on that?
Many thanks for your help.

Re: Encrypted DCP and subtitles
If you want to use an encrypted DCP and want to add subtitles to it (no matter wether timed text or burn, OV or VF), you need to get a (D)KDM for the original DCP, targeted at your specific DCP-o-matic installation. Therefore, you have to send your DCP-o-matic leaf certificate to whoever is able to issue KDMs for this DCP.
If you receive the KDM, you can assign it to the original DCP in DCP-o-matic (rightclick in content list), then add the subtitles and create a new encrypted DCP. You will need to create your own KDMs for this new DCP, or you have to issue a DKDM for whoever is mandated to create and send out KDMs for the subtitled version.
Note - you can test all these procedures with your own DCP-o-matic installation. Create an encrypted Test DCP, issue a (D)KDM, add to a new project, add subtitles, create new encrypted DCP, issue (D)KDM for it. If this works for you and you have understood the workflow, you can try with the real DCP.
DCP-o-matic offers you a whole industry-standard encryption/decryption/KDM universe, from DCP creation, modification, into the player. The current test version of the player will optionally respect KDM validity time frames.
Note, whenever you dump your DCP-o-matic config, install a new machine, wipe your disc, you will lose your security certs and with a new install of DCP-o-matic (not an update), KDMs issued previously become invalid. First thing to do when you start dealing with encrypted content is to backup your current config/certs to a safe place, so you can go back to them when necessary.

Sorry for the delay in replying. It looks like you might be seeing a bug which is fixed in the current test version. Could you try that? Or have you tried it already?

Sorry for late response. I have tried the current test version (2.13.156) and it works. Thank you for your time and effort!
