SMPTE DCP metadata?

Post by Carsten »

Hi Carl,

can you tell us if and what type of metadata DCP-o-matic is currently able to support? Some of it needs GUI changes (e.g. to include first frame of action, credit offset, etc.). I think we discussed it before a while ago, but I am not sure wether there is a mantis entry for it. I guess we should aim to include it in 2.15. Maybe you need to adjust some libraries for it?

There's no support for metadata so far. We can put it in post 2.14.0 - I don't think it's too hard. libdcp will need some adjustments, but nothing crazy.

There's this and this on Mantis.

Oh, yes, looks as if I answered my question to myself there...

I would vote for adding a metadata tab under 'DCP' in addition to video and audio. One could input certain metadata fields by hand, e.g. full composition title, but also allow to populate FFOA, etc. automatically (cue to/SET)from the timeline (similar to trim).
Some can be set automatically as in composing ISDCF names.

All the Metadata definitions are on the DCNC site.
