Dear Forum.
I wanted to add german Subs in srt format.
Surprisingly the Subtitles get crop sometimes.
Only when the Subttiles are italic.
Has anyone an idea how I could fix that?
I already changed the size to 77% but this did not affect te croping.
Thanks in advance
Anton

Hi,
Perhaps you could attach the .srt file (or email it to carl@dcpomatic.com) and tell us what version of DCP-o-matic you are using and on what operating system (windows/mac/linux)?

Re: Italic Subtitles getting Croped?
Certainly some kind of a display bug. But: Are you using these as timed text, or do you burn in? Because, as timed text, the projecor or server will render the subtitles and the cropping will (most likely) not occur.
That screenshot is from DCP-o-matic main, DCP-o-matic player, or...?

Just curious...
Are you just using Italics formatting using the codes: <i> </i> and nothing else?
I really don't see how that would change the relative size. An SRT is a passive text file and as mentioned above it's the system that renders the SRT subtitles onscreen.

Re: Italic Subtitles getting Croped?
I tried to reproduce it with 2.16.32, and it looks okay in preview:
(there is no space after the 't'. The SRT file has: <i>- lorem ipsum dolor sit amet</i>)
DCP-o-matic player displays both timed text as well as burn-in okay.

Re: Italic Subtitles getting Croped?
SMPTE ST 428-7 says to convert to italic by skewing the string to the right (I think it is 7 degrees). In tests, most, if not all, systems skewed the string about the horizontal baseline. Ascenders will move to the right and descenders will move to the left making the string slightly longer.
