7.1 Audio - which channel pattern?

Post by bronze13 »

Hi,
I want to create a DCP and a hi-res to test if (after repairs) the speakers in the cinema are wired correctly to their respective channels.
From our AP 50 we extract 8 channels (L, R, C, Lfe, SideR, SideL, RearR, RearL).
For the DCP I made 8 audio files which I want to allocate to their respective channels.
In the DCP section, folder "Ton", "Kanäle" offers me several options. However I couldn't find one with the rear channels.
By the way what are the meanings of "HI, VI, Lc, Rc, BsL, BsR, DBP, DBS"?
Cheers

You need to set the DCP to 12 channels/7.1 first under DCP->Audio.

While 7.1 needs only 8channels of audio, they are mapped to a 12ch DCP audio file, there is HI/VI-N on 7 and 8, and Lc and Rc on 9 and 10 inbetween, at least 9 and 10 will mostly be empty, and HI/VI-N is up to you to occupy with something useful.

BsL is Back Surround Left and BsR is Back Surround Right

HI means audio for the hearing impaired, VI-N means audio for the visually impaired. DBP and DBS is for DBOX systems (dbox primary and secondary sync tracks)

BTW - there is an official Dolby 7.1 Test-DCP floating around. But of course you can still make your own:
