Apologies if this has been asked a billion times but I couldn't find a recent answer via search.
I've got an older Mac Pro and a new Macbook Pro but neither can play DCPs using the DCP-O-Matic player without severe dropouts, etc. If I were to get a new Mac Pro, what would the minimum configuration need to be in order to obtain a clean playback? Perhaps even as a backup unencrypted DCP player if our server were to fail.
Thanks much! -Matt

Re: DCP Player specs
Hi Matt
I don't want to promise too much at this stage but if possible I'd wait a month or two before spending any serious money on playback. I'm working on some ways to speed things up. Do you definitely need to buy Apple or is a PC an option?
Best

I'm also looking at building/buying a playback box but I'm willing to go with whatever will work best. I'm going to assume that GPU decoding is off the table so I guess the question really is how many threads will I need for flawless playback of DCI 2K plus overhead ?
