DKDM questions

Might be showing my ignorance, but I'm wondering if DKDMs would possibly be able to be exploited, since they give the ability to generate KDMs, would the reciever be able to change the date range that you set?

That depends on the software he is using. There is a 'soft limit' in the DKDM,carried through the time window set during generation. And there is a certificate expiration, which can not be modified.

Some professional mastering systems will obey the set time frame, which is probably necessary to be trusted by the big studios.

DCP-o-matic is open source software - nothing keeps you from compiling your own version which completely ignores any time limitations.
