Hi.
1) Created encrypted OV DCP (EN-XX) + DKDMs
2) New DoM project where I imported the encrypted OV DCP, added DKDM ... all good
3) Added ST as SRT - all good
4) rendered DCP for VF
5) Created KDMs for both for cinema
Ingested in our cinema:
The OV works without problems
The VF, even if KDM is good and ingest ok, don't work, freezes the film for some seconds and then cancelled the play ...
I did exactly the same with no encryption, and OV and VF work well.
So the VF with subtitles has problems on encrypted DCPs ...
Any Idea what's wrong?
Thanks a lot for your thoughts ...
Best

Re: Encrypted Version File doesn't play
Do any of the subtitles turn up with the encrypted version?
Is this an Interop or SMPTE DCP?
What server and projector are you playing this on?

No, nothing is playing with the VF file ... looks like the player crashes.
It’s a 2k scope interop dcp at 24fps
We have Barco DP2k-12c with doremi server

Re: Encrypted Version File doesn't play
That's strange...
Right now, I can only suggest to try it again, just create the VF.
If there would be issues with the KDM, the feature play shouldn't start at all. Although it might be possible that the Doremi is somewhat shaky about different keys for OV and VF. As a matter of fact, Interop subtitles are not encrypted, so, if you create an encrypted VF with only added subtitles, there is actually nothing to encrypt, only the OV key needs to be conveyed. You could try SMPTE in this case, however, you would need to create a SMPTE OV first. Which can be done without recompression by just reloading the VF-Project (with the OV DKDM assigned), uncheck the 'refer to existing DCP', disable subtitles, choose 'SMPTE under DCP. This will just rewrap the Interop OV into a new SMPTE OV. Then, create a new VF project, referencing the SMPTE OV, and add the subtitles. But, that's just a blind shot.

Re: Encrypted Version File doesn't play
Thanks Carsten.
Inwill try out some options and let you know.
As the DCP will be delivered to distributor, it will for sure be played on other servers than doremi in the future, and in the past, I had issues delivering SMPTE DCPs in 24fps, which did not work on Sony for example ...

Re: Encrypted Version File doesn't play
It is true that currently, encrypted SMPTE DCPs do not work on Sony systems. Carl is working on it, but it is tricky...
Basically, it should work with Interop just as well. Usually, the Doremi is quite forgiving at playback. Really wondering what could be the issue here...
