Morning chaps!
I am trying to make a subtitled VF from an original DCP which I have received.
I have followed all the steps in the manual:
- Create new film and save it;
- Use the "Add folder" button to import OV DCP;
- Use the "Add file" button to import subtitles;
Problem is: every time I do this, the REFER TO EXISTING DCP checkbox is greyed out / unavailable.
Has anyone got any idea why this might be?
Desperation hitting here, any help is much appreciated!
Many thanks!

Re: Refer to existing DCP checkbox is greyed out
Hover your mouse over the greyed-out button and it should tell you why it doesn't want to do it. Do you have the DCP selected rather than the new subtitle file?

Re: Refer to existing DCP checkbox is greyed out
I've the same problem (not solved).
I'm using v. 2.10.1
As you see on the picture, I've made an undertitled OV DCP. It was succesfull and in one hour time, bravo Carl.
I'd really appreciate not to have to made this ingest in USB as the original DCP is already ingested.
Placing the arrow over the grayed box doesn't give any information.

You mean the "Se réferer à DCP existant" box? That's strange. The rough list of possible reasons for this to be disabled are:Placing the arrow over the grayed box doesn't give any information.
- imported DCP and current project do not use the same standard (Interop/SMPTE)
- imported DCP and current project have different frame rates
- the reels are different between the import and the current project
- there is other video content overlapping referenced video

Re: Refer to existing DCP checkbox is greyed out
I had a similar issue when I recently fixed the DCP with chinese subtitles. The 'refer to' checkbox was also greyed out for no apparent reason. While I was thinking about the issue, it suddenly turned black. This was a 10min piece on older hardware, so I guessed that DOM needed to inspect the file fully before it would enable the option.

Re: Refer to existing DCP checkbox is greyed out
Hi Carl, thank you for your interest and sorry for my late reply.
Indeed, the grayed box I was thinking about is "Se référer à disque existant".
As shown in the picture, frame rates were the same (le DCP et la source ont la même cadence image).
Both orginal DCP and project were IOP.
The problem (now solved) was the third issue you mentioned : the project was "bobine unique" as reel size and the original was in multiple reels. Putting "Séparer par contenu vidéo" solved the problem.
Once told, it seems obvious. Many thanks again.
I've a question about subtitles, maybe another post.
Regards
Jean

Re: Refer to existing DCP checkbox is greyed out
I think we recently thought about applying the proper DCP settings automatically to match a referred DCP. It's not clear wether that is a good idea. It would need to enforce certain settings to enable the checkbox, but that can cause all sorts of things to change in the background. The way Carl is dealing with this right now (hinting at the reason why it is greyed out) seems to be better, as it helps people to understand the causes better.
