Renaming DCP and CPL/PKL content

Post by chrusli »

I have some VF DCPs that I did not name properly. e.g., AkiraDeSubtitl_FTR-1_F_JA-DE_51_2K_20230216_SMPTE_VF. This should be Akira_FTR-1_F_JA-DE_51_2K_20230216_SMPTE_VF.

When I try to change the "Annotation text" and "Content title text" in the CPL and "Annotation text" and save the DCP I get this error.

In addition, am I allowed to rename the containing root folder of the DCP without risking anything?

In regards to changing the DCP folder name, you may as well. It doesn't change anything and you probably already know it doesn't change the CPL info.
You will just have to point DCP-o-matic to a different folder for importing, etc.

I won't pretend to know the answer on your main question, and I understand that what you are editing is a VF, that doesn't share the same folder with all the essences. Yet, did you identify what is the asset with id 7e48bf37-[...]-7e9f9ee9c283?
Is it a file that is part of the OV?

Thank you for your feedback. The id refers to the of this VF.

Code: Select all

<ReelList>
	<Reel>
	      <Id>urn:uuid:2e72f050-e3a4-41b3-82b4-fad645758d44</Id>

...to the... ?
I am afraid the second sentence is missing its object.
The code you shared (maybe part of a CPL?) doesn't have the ID that the exception-message is pointing as missing. It has the ID of the reel that is in the reel list of the application.

Another thing I wonder about, is if you are still using the editor of DCP-o-matic 2.16.42. You might find that the latest has some bugs crashed in the meantime. (Search for "editor" here: https://dcpomatic.com/release-notes?v=2.18.36)

Seems like a bug... I'll have a look now.

This build should fix the error: https://dcpomatic.com/temp/main/de9d31d ... taller.exe

Let me know how you get on if you try it...

I renamed four files, then edited the Assetmap with Notepad, running it as administrator, renamed the files in the four paths, and saved.
-video.mxf
-audio.mxf
-CPL.xml
-PKL.xml

That may work for a QubeWire Transfer, but won't ingest on a TMS or cinema server.

If the data ingest fails, cubewire will also fail the verification, because cubewire previously manufactured DCP servers.

Don't mess with filenames or edit metadata files manually. The only thing you are allowed to change is the folder name containing your package, as that is never referenced within the package/DCP.
