Searched but did not find: How to setup local network servers..

Post by RadioRon »

Hi All,

I'm a volunteer in a (rather big) arthouse cinema.
We do make DCP's , Thanks to DCP O'Matic.

Problem is: The DCP making process is sloooooow on our (biggest) PC.

We do have 2 networks;

1 office/cinema network ( mainly Windows PC's ) and a network consisting of an Apple PC managing 12 Raspberry Pi's for the display's througout our building.
(cinema programm, bar-prices, display at each entrance of our 5 (!) cinema halls ( some are rather small :-) ) etc.

Grok is too expensive for us, but i think it is possible to use the office (windows) pc's ( or even the RPi's ?? / Linux) for helping speed things up.

Only problem is i can't find a (simple) manual on how to set it all up ( if possible..?)

Regards and TNX in Advance !!

Can you tell us about the CPUs of these computers? How many are there? Setting up the encoding servers is easy on a standard office network. DCP-o-matic will usually recognise encoders automatically. I would start with a test on one of these office PCs, download the same version of the DCP-o-matic windows installer and install and start only the encode server on one machine at first.
