Normal practice with that would be to scale or slightly crop it to fit 3996x2160.

Is the OV 4096*2160 DCP your own? You can not create a VF from that DCP using a different resolution. The mistake was done when the 4096*2160 OV was created. You should redo it, if you have that option.
