Bitdefender finds infected file.

Post by johnoz »

Hi Everyone

I installed 2.16.79 a couple of days ago and a Bitdefender scan from today is finding some of the shortcuts are infected with Gen:Variant.Tedy.569908.

I'll scan with another spyware checker but has anybody else seen this ? Just wondering if it's a false positive.

The file C:\Users\Public\Desktop\DCP-o-matic 2 KDM Creator CLI.lnk is infected with Gen:Variant.Tedy.569908 and was moved to quarantine. It is recommended that you run a System Scan to make sure your system is clean.

A link/shortcut can easily be opened in text editor and be inspected visually.

I think the link is being reported because it links to an executable that they think is infected.

I see the same report here. Unless someone has carried out a sophisticated attack on the DCP-o-matic web server I think this is a false positive. I reported it to Bitdefender so let's see what they think.
