default level for stereo outputs?

Post by avocabeachtheatre »

Hi All

I’ve been having issues with audio levels of DCP’s being all over the place when played within the cinema system (usually too loud) & I was wondering where everyone sits their max peaks at for stereo outputs in DCP-o-matic?

Usually I sit it around -3db but have put it down to -6db to be safe with heavy smoothing to stop sharp spiking

What I convert are usually trailers from Youtube brought into Premiere Pro, exported as .mp4’s at 512kbps AAC then brought into DCP-o-matic

Thanks in advance

Peaks are irrelevant as long as they stay below 0dBFS. RMS and LUFS/LEQ must bei watched and kept konstant between trailers as far as possible. Audio that has not gone through specific cinema mastering is always far too loud.
