Summary | 0000504: Speedy resume functionality
Description | When DCP-generation is stopped and the app quit it needs a very long time (Job: Checking existing image data) to get started with encoding again. That might not be necessary if the contents of the media-files have not been changed, that is if their size and date-stamps are identical to the ones stored from the last DCP-generation pass. The user could be asked: "The media files seem to have not been changed since the DCP-render started. Resume without verification? Yes / No." If "Yes" is selected the system would only parse the last ten entries or so and then get cracking again :-)

I think it probably would be possible to speed up the MXF check. The original reasoning was to spot if the end of a previous encode had been corrupted by a crash / power-cut or whatever. On reflection it seems more sensible perhaps to work back from the end of the existing data and find the first frame that has the correct checksum, then continue the encode from there. |
