Thanks for testing. There's some more tweaks in this build, and also it has some logging to try and work out why your fonts aren't being used - that seems to work for me on Big Sur.

Test: <DCP-o-matic 2262-ass-07de2fda4 macOS10.10+>

- Font size displays larger than in the original (Helvetica Neue 60pt)
- The top alignment margin matches bottom margin (both set @100pt)
- The middle alignment is a little higher
- Helvetica Neue displays as plain Helvetica
- Different fonts display looking the same (I assume DoM's default)
- Changing font size: fonts display incrementally larger as size is increased (but look larger overall)

I'm not sure why my system is not displaying fonts correctly using DoM. However, using Handbrake [for burned subtitles] the fonts are formatted correctly (font/size)

Could you send/attach the "log" file from inside your project?

Could you try this build to see if it finds the fonts better?

DCP-o-matic 2262-ass-00d6a221e macOS10.10+.dmg 2022-07-18 15:27 166M
[ ] DCP-o-matic 2262-ass-00d6a221e macOS10.10+.dmg.id

What do I do with the second one?
The last time I tested I just used the top one and not the one that has "dmg.id" not sure about the function [on my end] of the second one.

TEST: DCP-o-matic 2262-ass-00d6a221e macOS10.10+.dmg 2022-07-18 15:27 166M

- Overall fonts look much larger than they should for their size
- Arial Black is thicker than Arial [as it should]... So I think it's right
- Helvetica Neue, I think so...
- The other fonts seem to look right except for their larger size
- Preview & playback match
- Larger size is what throws me off when comparing it to the Handbrake test or Aegisub screen.
- As far as outline/shadow goes, I couldn't tell because of black background used on test ...

[I didn't make any DoM appearance adjustments because an imported ASS file is suppose to carry all formatting information]

Question:
On DoM/appearance you have an adjustment for outline and shadow. Is it by design that you can only choose one or the other?

PS.
I wasn't sure if I was suppose to do something with this:
DCP-o-matic 2262-ass-00d6a221e macOS10.10+.dmg.id

The sizing should be better in this build if you would like to try that.

Probably - the DCP standard only allows one or the other, not both, as far as I can see.
DCP-o-matic 2262-ass-00d6a221e macOS10.10+.dmg.id
You can ignore these `.id` files, they are just an artefact of the build process.

Eye balling it against the original, the fonts still look a little larger than they should.

Thanks for testing... could I get some full-size screenshots of what you see on DCP-o-matic and whatever else you're comparing it to?

I could either take screenshots off Aegisub's screen or generate a file from Handbrake.
There is a simpler way: VLC is ASS compatible and all you need to do is load the ASS file.

Anyway, I'll make screenshots off Aegisub...

PS.
This is kind of weird but I seemed to remember that DoM applies the selected font/size quite well using an SRT file. But of course, it's using it's internal fonts and not having to read it from an imported file, which [not being a programmer myself] I assume is no easy task.
