Thanks for your reply Carsten, I did actually export the DCI compliant J2000 in DR as you'll notice in my original email, in my quoted spec of method 1. you must of missed it.
There are two confirmed methods of doing DCI compliant export in DR:
1. Format = JPEG2000, Codec = Kakadu DCI, this method produces J2000 image sequence only, no audio, then we do audio separately using our own pull up method of choice.
2. Format = DCP, Codec = Kakadu JPEG 2000, this produced a DCP of sorts (without OV/VF or naming logic) where audio was pulled up to 24fps which in the past was always resampled to 96khz first, but now updates have corrected it to allow choice of 96 and 48khz. I set to 48.
Regarding colour, I have since discovered that the colourist set Colour science to Davinci YPRG, but Project space to Davinci WG/intermedia and output space to Rec 709 gamma 2.4
It is such an ambiguous area. I got help from AI and in deliver page we set colour space tag to Rec 709 and gamma tag to gamma 2.4, because it wasnt being set automatically due to the WG/intermediate project colour space, even though output space was set to rec709 gamma 2.4 in project settings!
Its seems counterintuitive, but by doing this we are telling DR what it is now, not what we want it to be, this is the concept I wasn't grasping fully. And so then DR knew to change it automatically from rec709 gamma 2.4 to DCI XYZ
This then gave a successful import in DCPoMatic, it was automatically recognized as DCI XYZ and colour result was good.
